DR. CHATTANOOGA & THE NAVARONES + BOFFALORA STOMPERS
We did recive a couple of ultra rare sealed Double CD's of the first Postpunk band DR. CHATTANOOGA & THE NAVARONES from Chiasso, from the
italien part of switzerland. Their music could not be defined with two words, but perhaps with this three "trans-urban sesibility". This principle would seem to apply to THE NAVARONES, their music being so entirely open not only to a wide diversity of influences - folk, rockabilly, punk, new wave, electronic - but also to sounds from all over the world: rumba, tango, calypso, tex-mex, Maghrebian and African rhythms. Their lyrics are in a dialect which becomes, magically, Esperanto, interspersed as it is with English, Spanish, French, German and even Japanese. A linguistic blob, hallucinatory and visionary, animated by assonances and associations, original, sacrilegious, with flashes of irony redeemed by the most disarming poetry.
After an interval of more than 20 years, Carlo Butti and Franco Ghielmetti met in an attic in
the Via Soldini to 'contemplate' good music and to begin composing once again for a
project which was to materialise bearing the name-tag BOFFALORA STOMPERS and which would include friends and illustrious and unpredictables guests from Santiago de Cuba
music scene.
