For those starting out on a 70s funk revival, there's now a road map for your soul and its name is Son Of Stax Funk. With all the current interest in the '60s soul singers that the label produced, it's a shame that the funk laid down at Stax often gets overlooked. Son Of is here to remind those who need reminding that the funk could be felt just as good in Memphis as in any other funk centres of excellence. Son Of funks it up on a whole slew of good and groovy soul "thangs" culled from the vaults of Stax, Volt, Enterprise and Warren. Isaac Hayes, Black Nasty, Rufus Thomas and Sho-Nuff tell it like it is and there are two great cult tracks, the anti-drug anthem The Devil Is Dope by The Dramatics and Shake Your Big Hips by Israel 'Popper Stopper' Tolbert.
