QUINTRON
QUINTRON is a concert and nightclub organist from New Orleans, Louisiana. He plays Swamp-Tech music on a custom made Hammond/Rhodes combo organ which he has built up to look like a motor car, complete with working headlights and exhaust.
The Organ is backed by raw simple drum machine beats, hi-hat, and Quintron's own patented invention called THE DRUM BUDDY - a light activated analog synthesizer and beat machine which can also filter and mangle any instrument that is plugged into it. A recent run of 10 cypress cabinet Drum Buddies attracted celebrity buyers such as Laurie Anderson and Nels Cline of Wilco. The Drum Buddy is prominently featured on the latest Quintron album "Too Thirsty 4 Love".
This album was recorded entirely live in a bizarre 2-track studio set deep in the heart of New Orleans now famous 9th Ward. The live tracks were then played back and sung over. Lets call this the "6th grade bedroom style" of multi-tracking. For any interested equipment nerds, the Spellcaster Lodge studio consists of 4 microphones, one custom Neotek Series 1 board, and a 2 track tape deck. And a corkscrew.Quintron's musical partner MISS PUSSYCAT plays maracas and sings backup as well as entertaining all age groups with her highly amusing technicolor puppet shows. She has just recently finished filming a 10 episode puppet drama called TRIXIE AND THE TREE TRUNKS for VBS (Vice) TV.
The Quintron & Miss Pussycat experience is one of barely controlled electronic chaos, Swamp-Tech beats, small explosions, incredible clothes, and entertaining puppet stories. You can see them perform regularly at the Spellcaster Lodge in New Orleans, Louisiana or on one of their many tours around the world. This act somehow has equal relevance in sleazy nightclubs, pizza restaurants, and university lecture halls.
