SUICIDE
Suicide's first classic record, digitally remastered and reissued in its original form for the first time on the newly re-activated Red Star label.
Suicide emerged from the NYC/CBGB punk/new wave scene of the seventies.
Their influence can be heard in the work of many current artists, from the mechanistic ravings of Trent Reznor's Nine Inch Nails, Spiritualized, and Ministry to covers of "Ghost Rider" by R.E.M. and the recent version by the Rollins Band on the best-selling soundtrack, The Crow.
Equally loved and hated, and usually misunderstood, Suicide were perhaps as much as twenty years ahead of their time. Consisting of Alan Vega on vocals and Martin Rev on synthesizers and electronics, the impact of their approach (high-tech meets low-tech meets minimalism) applied to a pop framework can be felt throughout popular culture and music.
Now entering their 25th year, Suicide recently appeared in London to major acclaim, rising to the top of the alternative music charts. This recording is considered a '70s classic.
Included is the unreleased track "Keep Your Dreams," and the rare original version of "Cheree" along with a five page booklet which includes an interview with Suicide.
